Congress is joining a protest against coal mine projects in the Hasdeo forest in Chhattisgarh.

The Hasdeo-Arand coal field, located in the northern part of Chhattisgarh, spans 1,878 sq km in Korba, Surguja, and Surajpur districts, 300 km from Raipur, known as the 'Lung of Chhattisgarh' for its abundant forests.

Chhattisgarh Congress chief Deepak Baij accused the BJP government of profiting from corporate interests and cutting trees in the Hasdeo Arand region for a coal mine expansion project. Baij and Congress workers joined villagers in Hariharpur, Surguja district, in protesting the project.

The Hasdeo-Arand coal field, located in the northern part of Chhattisgarh, is known as the 'Lung of Chhattisgarh' due to its rich forests. During the election campaign, Rahul Gandhi promised that if people press the lotus button on the EVM, Adani would emerge from the VVPAT. This statement has been proven true after the formation of the BJP government in the state.
